The W4DFU weather station is dedicated to Dr. Leon Couch, the faculty advisor for the Gainesville Amateur Radio Club (GARC) since 1973. For over 30 years, Dr. Couch has provided his expertise, wisdom, and guidance to GARC, helping it to become the organization it is today.
Dr. Couch earned his Ph.D in electrical engineering from the University of Florida in 1968 and has been a faculty member of the EE department ever since. He has served as an Associate Chariman and Graduate Coordinator for the department and has earned the title of Professor Emeritus.
Dr. Couch retired in 2004 after decades of service to the University of Florida and to GARC. In honor of over 30 years of service, GARC members have completed the W4DFU weather station and dedicated it to their highly honored former advisor.
